Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille on Penalties to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the season-opening cup on 14 different times.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past Marseille in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the match featuring the French league champions and the French Cup winners after the French winger opened the net early on.

Yet, the southern French side fired twice late to seize a surprise advantage. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital leveler in the dying seconds to send the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping crucial attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for PSG to seal a convincing penalty win.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the last 13 seasons.
